Because I said so…

Feb 22, 2022

Blogger, Connie Hill from Alabama, has a wonderful blog site, Because I said so…and other adventures in parenting. A great place to scroll and meander to review her thoughts on books suitable for recommendations. Here are the highlights of what she had to say about The Gatekeeper’s Descendants, noting she enjoyed the story, even though it was not her typical go-to genre.

The Gatekeeper’s Descendants is written by Johanna Frank. This is the first book that I have read by this author. This is a Christian Fantasy book. This is not my typical go to genre to read, but I enjoyed the story. It was unique and flowed nicely across the pages. This story follows follows the life of young Matthew. He has been savagely beaten. He suddenly finds his spirit being led away by Kasartha, who promises to show him the universe. Kasartha helps his spirit get back to earth and Matthew starts to recover.

I do like how much is invested into Matthew’s character and how she showed some of what teens struggle with today. Matthew especially struggling with his fathers death. I wish that I would have asked my 10 year old, who is a huge YA fantasy reader to review this with me, but I will be passing it on for him to read.

The book is well written, the story is unique. I was surprised to find out that this is the author’s first book. I hope to read more from her in the future.

Thankful for all the book bloggers out there, they provide such a valuable service for readers and authors alike!

Onward with the journey …just a few more awesome stops to go. 🙂
